BioShock Infinite Review - PlayDevil

Added: 11.04.2013 15:20 | 10 views | 0 comments

PlayDevil has posted an in depth review of the new "BioShock Infinite". Here's more: "The original Bioshock also had an interesting story to tell, and had fantastic gameplay to match. Yes, you could argue that System Shock 2 and Deus Ex had been doing much the same nearly 10 years previous, but never to any great success on a console, and whilst the core gameplay was there, it never felt as tight or easy to play as a modern action shooter. The original Bioshock managed the perfect combination of complexity, puzzle solving and shooting in a brilliantly accessible package that felt at home on a joypad. "

BioShock Infinite Review - Forbes (Xbox 360 Version)

Structurally, and despite its name, BioShock Infinite feels like a conclusion a representative of a pure, narrative-driven one-player game of a type being made less and less by large studios, and one of the last significant releases of this console cycle (the Xbox 360 version, which I played, is lovely to look at, but PC graphics on Ultra settings represent a massive improvement in texture detail and lighting). It also provides a conclusion of sorts to the BioShock project, although one should never say never when commercial concerns impinge. After a long development cycle and a marketing blitz, Irrational Games will have ambitious sales targets. This is a big game for Take-Two Interactive, especially after the failure of its second-tier publishing rival THQ: it is notable that the final, three-times-revised release date for BioShock Infinite did not slip past the final retail weekend of Take-Twos full year.

Over the past several years 2K games has made a name for itself with its top-notch games and great investment in details. A few years back a game called Bioshock bursts onto the scene making big boast of brilliant graphics and awesome story. It fulfilled those promises and gave new breath to the first person shooter genre. A few years later it followed up with a solid sequel in Bioshock 2. While not as dominant in story as its predecessor the game still brought a lot of fresh plot twists and gameplay to the table. Now its 2013 and Bioshock: Infinite has landed on PC, PS3, and 360. The question is: Is this game worth your time and hard earned money? The answers shall be revealed.

BioShock Infinite is not only 2013s most anticipated game, but it actually manages to live up to the hype its an early contender for game of the year. It looks and sounds stunning whilst retaining a depth usually reserved for lower budget indie endeavors. The ending is mind-blowing and will make you immediately want to pick up the controller and play it all over again from the beginning as with the very best films, books and video games, people will be talking about BioShock Infinite for weeks, months and years to come. It has more magic in its severed little finger than any other first-person shooter released in recent memory. There is no such thing as the perfect video game but BioShock Infinite aims for the sky and comes damn close.

Whether or not you enjoy first-person shooters is irrelevant. It is whether or not you want an experience like no other; one that will be left in the back of your mind for years to come.
